Halifax Floor Hockey League
The championship game was played this past Monday between the Chill and the Lynx. Both teams were not the favs to be here heading into the postseason, but it just goes to show you what can happen when the refs cheat and favour teams…
Oops, did I say that out loud?
Seriously. Both of these teams ere loaded with talent.
It was a great game and closer than the score. The Chill scored an empty netter and when it was as all over, they took home the hardware with a 9-6 win.
This could have gone either way with a bounce her or there. The biggest difference tonight? Unsung hero Troy Winsor. He didn’t miss many chances and tallied 5 goals and as a result, he becomes this year’s Championship MVP. Way to go Troy.
So that’s the season for you.
I want to thank everybody who played this season and especially to those who step up every week to ref and time keep. Without those folks we don’t play. They take an awful lot of abuse in the run of the season, but they keep signing up.
So the next time you want to belly ache about a missed call here, or a questionable call there, remember, that we have 56 guys who play, and at most 10 who will help out.
If you want to make a difference…we can get you a whistle.
I also want to thank Rob Tyrrell and Matt Monk for all their help with the logistical stuff and support as well. Again, without these guys, we don’t have a league.
Lastly, thanks to Knapper who helped out with our player of the week awards again. Remember, if you are looking for ball hockey equipment, make them your first choice. Mike Collier is their local rep and he can help you find what you need.
So that’s a wrap!
Please make sure you are signing up for next season. The email has gone out and we would like to try and get things rolling by Jan 8th. So please make a point to get er done.
I also want to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas, because that’s what I say, and Happy Holidays to those who are offended by that.
Wishing you and yours a safe and enjoyable Christmas and New Yeras…and hope to see you all again in the new year!
Be well folks
Love Billy Concarney xoxo
