Short and Oh so sweet! Week 8 recap

First game saw Hackers take on the Lynx. This one was just the Kyle Bradbury show. The Hacks scored 10 goals and he was in on 8 of them.

It was a great game, lots of back and forth…but mostly forth and the Hackers won this one 10-6

Bradbury picked up this weeks Knapper player of the week award with his 3 goal, 5 assist night. Great job Kyle!

Second game saw the Slayers facing the undermanned Chill. It started out ok and remained respectable. Craig Burgoyne kept doing his usual big save job as he faced 55 shots in this one. After the first it was 4-2 Chill. After the Second it was 8-5 Sabres. But alas, came the third and things started to unravel. The boys just could not put forth an effort and so they packed it in and suffered an 11-5 loss.

That’s game saw the Fire trying to burn the Slayers who had won 5 in a row. This was a playoff calibre game and these teams kept trading punches until the end. Came down to the last minute really of the third and the Fire were down by 2. Paul Chang fires the ball at the net and it hits Keven Pittman in the back then deflected in. Down one. Fire win the draw, Alex Gale takes a slap shot which deflects off of one Slayers stick and goes straight to the net, where it deflected off another Slayer stick and into the net. This one ends up 9-9. Bob Strum made 46 saves.

So that was how it was this week. Play offs are shaping up and come next week, the first two spots will be decided. Everything else will be a crap shoot.

This is Billy Concarney saying so long and stay well everyone!
