Draft Day a Done Deal

October 6, 1999
The 1999 entry draft has come and gone with a number of interesting selections. Here is a team-by-team summary of what went on:

LAN Hackers
Returning to the defending champions line-up are league scoring champion John Price, playoff MVP Dave Walsh, John Fenton, Wayne Abbey, and GM John Dulong. Acquired from the Sunnydale Slayers was forward Steve Uchacz. Dulong managed to nab three of the leagues top prosects in the draft: Greg Foran, Randall Leard, and Bruce Walden. After the draft, many insiders were picking the Hackers to repeat as league champs.

Keane Fire
Out with the old and in with the old. GM Michael Griffiths kept all available Keane Fire players in the draft including: Rob & Mike Sasco, Trevor Murphy, Barrie Harvey, Mike Montgomery, Stephen Barriault and Kevin Haddad. The only new member of this Keane Fire this year will be ex-Slayer Chris Bleichert.

Sunnydale Slayers
GM Paul Chui held on to four Slayers in this years draft: Tim Farrell, Tony Scallon, Mark MacIsaac, and Mike MacDonald. The most notable of the Slayers' acquisitions are proven winners and ex-Hackers Don Abbott and Tim Sawlor. Chui, last year's GAA leader, hopes that the Slayers' blend of experience and youth (including rookies George Publicover and Jason Royal) will make Sunnydale a contender this year.

Lite-Sabres
All available Lite-Sabres were snatched up by GM Richard MacMillan. Returning from last year's runner-up team include Rob McNeil, Peter Rinco, Kenzie Royal and Chris McMaster. All other roster spots were filled by league rookies: Steve Chaisson, Darren Derocher, John Gaudet and Ryan MacDonald.
