Hackers Show Knack for Comebacks

November 21, 2001
The LAN Hackers fought from behind to nip the ADC Lynx 10-9 last Tuesday night. With the win, the Hackers have clinched first place overall for the 6th straight season.

The Hackers dictated the play for all 45 minutes of the game, while more than doubling the Lynx in shots 67-33. Lynx goaltender Tony McCarthy was stellar, keeping his team less than two goals from the Hackers for the entire game. McCarthy stopped all of his 19 second period shots to allow his team to tie the game at 6 in the second intermission.

The Lynx looked destined for victory when Mike Hashem scored his third goal of the game with 5 minutes to go, to give the Lynx 9-8 lead.

But right on cue, John Price tied the game at 9 at the 13:35 of the third period. Then budding Hacker superstar Peter Rowe broke the hearts of the Lynx, scoring the game-winning goal with 25 seconds left in the game.

Price, Rowe and Chris Rafuse all had hat-tricks for the Hackers while Darren Derocher added a single goal.

Hashem and Craig Mercer had three goals apiece for the Lynx while Kathleen MacDonald, Tony Warnell and Jason Fitzgerald scored one each. Richard Wannamaker's 5 assists was the 3rd highest single-game total in the league for the 2001B season. That total broke his previous best of 3 assists.
