This is Billy Concarney here after a long battle with ISUCKATTHISITIS...or other wards known as lazy writers syndrome.
Anyway, here I am in all my glory ready to tell you this weeks story!
So lets get at it shall we:
first game of the night will be the Chill vs the Titans. The Titans have been a bit lack lustre the last few games and the Chill have been cool as a cucumber, hot as Fire, smoking' like a burnt burrito...
Tonight would not change a bloody thing! The Chill dominated this game in a crazy way as they scored a total of 15 goals in this one. The Titans, who were wayyyy under manned could only grab 5 goals and really were not in it at all.
Worth while to not that league power forward Evan "I'm from" Canning had the best game of his career picking up 7 goals and adding 2 helpers. For JD and the boys...that mean 2 hatty's and a loner. That performance also grants Evan this weeks East Side Mario's Player of the Week! Way to go Evan
Chill cool the Titans 15-5
Next game we will look at saw the Bulldogs vs the Slayers. The Slayers were short benched and were forced to throw some forwards back on D. The full benched Dogs, noted this weakness and proceeded to dismantle the Slayers like a cheap bookshelf from Ikea!
Namely Trevor "I don't know how to pass" Wadden ( well he does pass but it sounds better my way), who tallied 5 goals and could be heard shouting "How you like me now JD" after each one. (thats not rue either but it makes for good reading no?
JD grabbed 2 goals and a helper, but the Dogs just had too much bite tonight.
Worthy of notice was one Paul "I need to get" Highmore who turned aside 37 of 40 shots for his best performance of the season.
Dogs win 8-3
Next up was a battle of two top teams in the league. The Fire, sporting the leagues best record to date, were looking to burn the whiley old Lynx...but the cats had other ideas.
Jason Boom Boom Boudreau called in late to say he was a no show so Tom "I can get you the" Wynn stepped in and up all at the same time. Although Boudreau has been playing solid this season, Tom shone like a new beamer hot off the turtle wax and was a big reason why the Lynx pulled off what is considered to be a huge upset!
The Lynx were led by long time veteran on the come back trail, Tony "Re" Joyce who scored 4 goals and added a helper. Also worth while to note that Good Fitzpatrick, who just coasts under the radar, came up with a great game and picked up 2 goals and a helper as well.
On the fire, the only bright spot was Sean Fitzgerald who recorded another hat trick and added a helper. Fitz is having the best season we have seen since his entrance in the league. Keep it up Fitz old boy!
The Lynx burned the Fire 10-6 and in doing so allow the Chill to pull into a first place tie with the Fire.
Lynx take this one 10-6
Our last game of the night is the Sabres vs the Hackers. The Hackers have been hot and cold while the Sabres have been suffering ever since the block buster trade was made with the Lynx. Sabres GM is said two be in hiding as not to have to address the media on the subject and he is hoping that his boys will just pull out of it and get back to their winning ways...but it aint happening tonight!
This game was pretty much all Hackers. If not for the incredible play...and i mean incredible, of Chris "The Big Cheese"MacKinnon, this one would have been high double digits. Chris made highlife reel saves galore but his team could not notch enough on the score sheet to give him the support he needed.
No big stars shining in this game, but the Hackers had some help from some key role players in Richie Wannamaker and rookie Ryan Sutcliff who both picked up 2 goals on this night. Not to mention Shane Erb who added 2 of his own.
At the other end the Sabres were led by Gord Caines who scored a goal and added an assist. All Hackers in this one baby!
Hackers win 7-3
Well thats how she looked this past week. This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember only two weeks left to decide who will play whom in the big dance.
Alsowant to mention that we are starting to think about our summer pick up. If you are interested, we play full court on Monday nights for 1.5 or 2 hrs an die play 5 on 5 on the full court.
If you are interested, talk to Johann or Martin and they will take your name.
Thats it for now!
Be well folks!
