Week 9 Recap

November 17, 2016
Well hey there boys and girls.
Billy Concarney here saying hello from sunny Guacamole in the heart of Nacho Grande. Been away covering the gong show of an election in the US, but felt it best to get back home to Our Native Land before the border gets shut down!

Here are the games in short

Titans Roll over the Lynx 15-7.
All goals for the titans had a For or a Scott attached to them... Titans heavy favs going into the play offs for sure.
Scott Cross has a record night for him with 9 goals and a helper...must have gone off of someone lol
Gord Caines has a stupid wicked good night as well grabbing 1 goals and 11 assists... something ain't right about that!

In a more realistic battle, the Chill bested the Fire by a score of 5-3
MacKinnon and Kane stood tall and played great games to keep things close.
Highlight is Keven Pittmans three goal performance. Chill re on the move while the Fire are calling down. They face a monumental task next week facing the Titans.

The Sabres shocked the ball hockey world this night by taking it to the Hackers in an epic battle. Score was 7-5 for the Sabres.
Craigy Boy Burgoyne faced 50 shots in this one while Jason Boom Boom didn't play his best, but you can't blame him for this one.
The Hackers look almost human at this point but get ready for them to look to rebound big time this coming week. Honourable mention goes to Dave Cooper who had 3 goals and a helper, while Trevor McGuigan, who was last weeks Eastside Mario's Player of the Week, recorded 4 goals and 2 assists.

Last game of the night saw the Bulldogs get beat by the first place Slayers. Score was 6-3.
Highmore did all he could while at the other end Zwicker was rock solid.
Highlight guys were JD, Trevor Wadden and Evan Canning...oops and Shane Erb who accounted for all of the Slayers goals with two a piece.

So with the week 9 games completed, our play off set up is taking shape...albeit I can't figure out which shape yet.
This is too close to call with so more possible combos then McD's! So lets just take a look at the stats.

1st Slayers with 14 pts 76 goals for and 55 against
2nd Titans with 13 pts 75 gaols for 54 against
3rd Hackers with 11pts 75 goals for and 55 against
4th Fire with 9 pts 50 goals for and 44 against
5th Chill with 7pts 42 goals for and 62 against
6th Lynx with 7pts 53 goals for and 63 against
7th Bulldogs with 6pts 44 goals for and 63 against
8th Sabres with 5 pts 51 goals for and 70 against

As you can see it's pretty tight.
This weeks schedule sees the following:

Titans vs Fire - Titans are loaded with offence with some of the biggest shots in the league, Fire are a pretty good team and they have boss goaltending

Slayers vs Sabres - Would have to give the edge to the Slayers just because of the 1st playing 8th scenario...but didn't the Sabres just take the Hackers out of the hunt for first??? interesting match up

Chill vs Lynx - these guys battled top a tie last time they played and look look they are tied in the standings. Will most likely be some movement coming out of this game. I ain't brave enough to call it!

Bulldogs vs Hackers- not sure I want to be the Dogs this week. Hackers are going to be fired up after last weeks loss and the Dogs will have to be showing some teeth to keep it a game. Giving the Hackers the edge.

So that's all she...well I wrote. Hope you are all doing well.
Please note we grabbed an almost brand new set of gloves last week.
If they are yours, please let me know. Came from the 930 game on the small floor...along with a hat. The hat wont fetch much on kijiji but the gloves might buy me some dinner...so let me know if they belong to you!

This is Billy Concareny saying so long and be well folks!
