Battle of the 4 and 0's - Fire vs Hackers
So here at the Stad arena we had two teams that were 4-0 so far this season. The Fire have been on a roll since ball drop, riding the hot shot goaltending of Darren "The Bear" Smith and fielding a great defence core.
the Hackers have been their usual wrecking machine led by team captain Dave "I'm Super" Cooper and the two Keating clan. This was going to be an interesting match up for sure.
Well, when it was all said an done, the Hackers are still undefeated led by Roger "The Ninja" Keating who had a hat trick.
The Fire Captain Rob "The Rhyno" Tyrrell had a great night as well picking up his own hat trick and adding a helper. But The Hackers were just too powerful and they took this one by a score of 8-5. A respectable showing against these guys by the Fire, which shows they are for real
Don't you...forget about me.... Slayers vs Lynx
So the big game was obviously the Fire and the Hacks, but there was still another undefeated team heading into this game and surprisingly so, in the Slayers. Led by some lucky goal tending and a steady crew, the Slayers have been quietly staking their own ground in the league.
The Lynx are a little bewildered at not having a win this season. They have a great team on paper and their goaltending is pretty good as well, so Lynx captain James "the guy with too many last names" Griffin-Allwood was looking to capture the flag so to speak.
This actually turned out to be the lowest game in the league in quiet some time, maybe ever! The Lynx opened the scoring picking up the only goal of the period in the first. But unfortunately for them, it would be their last goal. The Slayers were patient and even though Craig "The Gargoyle" Burgoyne made some super saves and lots of them, the Slayers were able to pick up three goals in the second and third. Led by Phyl "The Ghost" LaFerrier who tallied two goals and a helper, the Slayers took this one by a score of 3-1. The Slayers face off against the Hackers this coming Monday...look out Kane...they are coming for you!
Does anyone know Jason Boudreau? Bulldogs vs Titans
So, both of these teams are having ok, but no so great years this far. But tonight, neither of their goalies show. So in come Tom "I have to" Wynn and Marty "the Party" Kane. Who is going to play for who? Well, lets have a friendly game of rock, paper Scissors to decide. First round...a tie...second round...a tie... third round...Wynn wins and says...haha sucker! I'm playing' fo' da' Titans... Kane faces the two biggest shots in the league. or does he...Turns out the Titans are down their best guys and fielding a short bench...too bad says kane! and away we go!
Unfortunately the most exciting thing that happened in this game was the rock, paper scissors...Eric "the Ice Man" Eisner scored a hat as did Trevor "the Law man" McGuigan. Thats all I got folks. Bulldogs take this one 9-4
A Battle of the beat downs - Sabres vs Chill
So would it be swords a blazing or a cool night to remember...ahhh, neither! These guys played hard against each other and I am sure it was a great game...but the stats yell BOOOORING! it ended in a 4-4 tie. No one faced 100 shots, no scored a hat trick, there was a penalty though! Jake "I'm Bad" Haddad tripped a guy. it is under review by league officials....oops, this just in, it was actually accidental! So no further discipline. dang!
So there is is folks. This weeks Eastside mario's Player of the Week was marty "the Party" Kane for finishing the game with 1 goal and a .973 save %
A few Hatties floating around as well. This was worth waiting for wasn't it!
