The Lynx, missing rookie sensation Blaise MacPhee, were helpless against a relentless Sabre attack, led by rookie Chad Griffin who had 9 goals and 4 assists. Griffin, who had only 9 points in his two previous games, said it was the Sabres' loss to the Hackers that spurred him on. "The sour taste of defeat was still fresh on my palate. Fresh like the first apple of spring, for which one yearns for all these cold days," remarked Griffin. At this point, it wasn't very clear if Griffin was still talking about floor hockey or taking the opportunity to recite one of his sonnets. Regardless, this reporter didn't want to find out and immediately cut the interview short.
The Tuesday night game this week saw the Halifax Chill get their first ever victory, as they squeaked by the Sunnydale Slayers 13-12. Chill forward Randall Leard, inspired by his recent appearance on the ADCFHL website cover page, scored 5 goals for the victors, including the winner.
Also this week, the LAN Hackers pummelled the Keane Fire 26-10 in typical LAN Hacker fashion. The game was tight early as the Fire managed to knot the game at 4 late in the first period. But it was no contest from that point on, as new league scoring leader Shawn Currie scored a record-tying 12 goals and linemate Steve Schumph added a record-tying 8 assists. Star Hacker John Price played this game with a extremely sore ankle. He was overheard begging to sit out the game, but Hacker's captain John Dulong would have nothing of it.
One of the Hackers' biggest concerns this season may have been resolved with the ADC's recent acquisition of additional office space in Duke Tower. Now they'll have somewhere to house Dulong's swollen ego.
