I am Billy Concarney and this is my take on this weeks semi final games played this past Monday.
First let's take a peek at the Hackers and the Chill.
The Chill defeated the Slayers in a close on last week that earned them a birth in the semis. The Hackers came off a convincing win against the Fire and were looking to keep things going coming into this one. This was a low scoring affair but the Hackers dominated scoring the first 4 goals of the game. It looked like they might even shut the Chill out...but try as he may, Jason "Boom Boom" Boudreau, who played a great game especially in the first period, could not close the door completely. It wasn't until late in the third that the Chill scored their first of two. Craig "The Gargoyle" Burgoyne stood on his head and certainly was not a reason for the loss. But the Hackers just had too much. This game ended 5-2 for the Hackers who move onto the finals.
The second game of the night saw the mighty Titans squaring off against the surging Lynx. This had potential for a great match up, but the Titans came out fast and Marty "the Party" Kane did not turn in a great performance, which would be necessary for his team to win.
Scott "I'm Hot" Cross notched 4 goals in an "hey everyone look at me fashion" ;-) and that was enough to beat the Lynx.
It was a penalty riddled game that saw one ref call 10 penalties and another just one...hmmmm...
Oh to do a thankless job.
Chris Big C McKinnon, coming of his "thank you God" trade, was a steady Eddy and turned aside most of his shots only giving up 3. Kane gave up 7. Guess what the score was?
the Titans were a better team tonight and it showed. The only questions that has to be asked is why teams do not put someone on Cross. He pretty much has free reign out there and thus uses his talents to light it up. The key to his teams success has clearly been his play. 16 its in two play off games is pretty impressive.
So there you have it. The stage is set and the Hackers will play host to the Titans in the finals.
Great job guys. You both deserve to be there for sure.
That's how it looked from this end of the rink. I'm Billy Concarney saying so long and be well folks!
