Halifax Floor Hockey LeagueMy name is Billy Concarney and I am the editor in chief of The HFHL News...your comprehensive magazine that gives all those bored out of your skull readers a weekly glimpse into the abyss that we call news...
So, without any further delays...or big words, here is your week 5 recap!
Lynx vs Fire
The Lynx are a pretty tough team this year. They have lots of speed and just last week shocked the Titans with a come from behind win. This week they were in the heat so to speak as they faced off against the Fire. Led by the dynamic duo of Adam "I'm Gellin" Schellenberg and Braden "My Hair" Urquhart, the Fire are a hard team to beat.
well, this one was not as bad as some may have thought.
Adam Schellenberg led his team to victory but it was not until the third that they made it known they were not going to lose. Schallenberg picked up 5 goals and added 4 helpers, which all by his lonesome could have provided enough offence to beat the Lynx. Art the other end, Ken "Tan Your" Heidman continued his torrid pace as he scored 4 goals in the losing effort.
The Chill took this one by a score of 8-4
Slayers vs Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are a much better team then their record would state. They have a tenacious team that keeps coming. Tonight, Craif "the Gargoyle" Burgoyne was out with a lower body injury and hired gun Tom "I'll Try To" Wynn was between the pipes. There was not a lot of offence here as both teams battled hard and clean. The Slayers were led by Mark "The Captain" Duggan who picked up two goals, while the Bulldogs were led by Trevor "the Defender" McGuigan who also had two goals. The goalies at both ends played great games and in the end, the Slayers own this one by a score of 4-3
Hackers vs Sabres
The league leading Sabres had their hands full tonight as they squared off against the Hackers. The Hackers have been having a mediocre season for their likings but wanted to make that change tonight. The MacKinnonless Sabres would rely on their depth at all levels to try and defeat the Hackers.
Marty "the party" Kane was filling in for the Sabres, but they really didn't need to call on him too much. The game was close right up until the third when then Sabres scored three unanswered goals to get the win. Tom Wynn played a huge game for his team and made some big big stops.
The Sabres were led by Sean "Takes fits"Fitzgerald who had a goal and a helper, while the Gill Mombourquette did the same for the losing Hackers.
Sabres take this one by a score of 7-4
Titans vs Chill
The Titans had a full team out tonight, while the Chill...well they were just flat out cold. Bobby "City Slicker" Zwicker was stepping in for the sick Gary "the Toy" McAvoy, who was down wit da illness. The Titans scored 6 goals in the first and that was just too much for the Chill to overcome. Scott "I'm Hot" Cross had 3 goals and 3 helpers, while Keven "Son of Rob" Pittman had 2 goals and 3 assists in the losing effort. This game was clean though...no penalties...but other than that, pretty booooooring!
Titans take this one 11-5
So that is it folks. We want to congratulate Adam "I'm Gellin'" Schallenberg for picking up the ESM Player of the week donors for his performance. Good job Adam!
Just a note to the league...STOP LEAVING YOUR CRAP IN THE GYM! The league is picking up after you guys more than a parent does for their adolescent kids!
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember...if you can't beat em...run!
Be well folks!
