John Kedy...two for the big guy Week 4 Recap

February 24, 2015
Hello ladies and gents! Welcome to another edition of blah blah blah...the HFHL News stuff.
My name is Billy Concarney and here is the low down on week 4.

Slayers vs Sabres

Well in this was a game about none other than "Big" John Kedy. This sophomore has been quietly slinking from team to team over the last two season...but this one is different. You see John is a difference maker when given the chance...and tonight, well tonight he was given that chance.
The game started out slow with the teams going back and forth on the score sheet. It wasn't until the end of the first that Kedy, took a break away pass from Barry "No Fooling'" Coolen and shot low on Kane. Kane stopped the first one but Kedy was ready and buried the second opportunity. Then he calmly walked away with that "I just brought a squirrel home for my owner" look.
Back and forth they go again until once again late in the period, this time the second, "Big" John Kedy takes another breakaway pass. he zigs, he zags and well that wasn't really what happened, but he scored his second on the down trodden Kane. That marked for the end of any chance that the Slayers had to stay in this.
We asked the Slayers goalie what he thought about "Big" John recording two massive goals on him. All he would say was
"Darn you John Kedy...Darn You!"
Sabres take this one by a score of 7-4

Hackers vs Bulldogs

Whoa nelly, this was going to be a barn burner. The Dogs have been showing some signs of new life as of late while the Hackers have been fighting their way through the first few games this season.
This one saw everything about as even as it could be. Both keepers, Wynn for the Hackers and Burgoyne for the Dogs, gave their teams a chance to win the game...but their teams couldn't make that happen. With a shot tally of 48-46 in favour of the Hackers, each team scored 7 goals and this one ended in a tie. Combo led the Hackers with 3 goals while the Dogs were led by Trevor "The Defender" McGuigan who scored 2 goals and added 3 helpers and also Adam "The Long Hair" Secord who scored one and picked up 3 assists. This was a great game by two great teams. This ended up tied at 7 a piece.

Chill Vs Fire

Well last week saw Gary "the Toy" McAvoy play his best game yet...but he was out to prove that it was no fluke. And according to all accounts he did just that. Once again facing 51 shots in a losing effort, but making some f the best saves the league has seen so far this year.
The Chill are having a hard time getting on the score board and tonight was no occupation. They only managed to pick up 3 goals on their 30 shots. Tough to win games when you aren't making the shots count.
The Fire were led by Brayden "My Hair" Urquhart who had two goals and three assists and also Wade "The Bull" Mullen, who scored 2 gaols of his own and added a helper.
The Chill lose this one by a score of 8-3. At some point, Chill captain Keven "Son of Rob" Pittman has to be thinking trade...

Lynx vs Titans

Well, the league whipping boys seem to be the Lynx. Work hard every night. Score some goals and just come up short for the wins. well tonight they would change that.
Bothe teams played a good game, but in the end it was Ken "The Engaged" Hiedman who would have a night to remember scoring 5 goals that would ultimately lead his team to victory. Scott "I'm Hot" Cross tried to counter with his own hat trick, but it just was not enough on this night. Trevor "The Medic" Swaine stopped what he had to and that also gave his team a chance for the win.
The Lynx take this one by a score of 8-7.

We want to congratulate Ken "the Engaged" Hiedman on the obvious...but also on being this weeks Eastside Mario's Player of the Week. Way to go Ken.
As always, we want everyone to support ESM as they continue to support us.

Last thing is a message from the league executive.
We have noticed that some folks are taking a few more liberties than we are comfortable with. On the days ahead, you may receive an email asking you to "tone things down". Please take this for what it's worth. We want to continue to have a league that guys and gals can play in and have a great night of fun, and still play for keeps. In order to ensure that the spirit of the league does not get lost in the competitive aspect, we ask that you all take a look at yourselves in the mirror and say
"I will do unto others as I would have them do unto me".
See you all on the court!

This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember...hockey is a game...but the HFHL? well that is a league.
Be well folks
