Fire vs Hackers
This was destined to be a great match up from the get go. Two strong teams that are pretty even on paper. When the ball dropped, it was the Fire whop struck first. They picked up 5 goals in the first and never looked back. the Hackers out played the Fire in the second and third, but they just could not catch up.
Big guns for the Fire were Adam "I'm Gellin'" Schellenberg who had 4 goals and an assist and for the Hackers...would be Tom "The Gun" Wynn who played a heck of a game facing 44 shots.
Fire take this one 7-4
Lynx vs Slayers
This turned out to be another first period loss as the Slayers came out firing on all cylinders and outscored the Lynx by a score of 6-1 after the first. The Lynx had their fair share of pressure out shooting the Slayers 39-37, but they were just too far in the hole to climb out. Some costly mistakes in their own end led to their demise.
The Slayers were led by Mark "The Old Man Of The Sea" Duggan who had 3 tallies and 3 helpers, followed by Shane "Garlic and" Erb who had a hat trick and a helper to boot! Rookie Matt "The Hour Of" Power had 2 and 2 as well.
The bright spot for the toothless Lynx was Mike "The Artist" DeAdder, who picked up two goals but more importantly managed to rattle Slayers keeper Marty "The Party" Kane with some uncalled for rhetoric. But when it was all said and done, it mattered not as the Slayers won this one by a score of 12-5. One source said that after the night was done, Kane and Deadder were seen walking arm in arm down the hall singing these famous words...
"Why would I spend my time just thinking about you...when I can go to therapy 3 times a day"
Way to kiss and make up guys!
Titans vs Bulldogs
All eyes were on the new look Bulldogs as they added replacement player Evan "My Hanes are" White to their roster in place of journeymen Sheldon "brother of Conan" O'Brien, who will miss the rest of the season with some injury issues...or as they say in the NHL...lower body injuries. Well Evan made an immediate impact grabbing our version of the Gordie Howe hat trick with a goal, assist and a penalty.
This was a pretty good game and one that saw Craig "the Gargoyle" Burgoyne get back to his "A"game after a bit of a rough patch. Donny "Beetle" Bailey brought some much needed help scoring two on his first night out as well.
This could be a turning point for the Dogs as they had their best game of this young season.
The Dogs beat the Titan 5-2
Chill vs Sabres
The Chill bench was full tonight while the Sabres had just one sub...and it was a Philly Beef and Swiss! The Chill goalie, Gary "The Toy" McAvoy played THE game of his career here at the HFHL facing 51 shots, He gave up 9 goals, but man did he put on a show. he made a cluster of saves that could put him in the running for all three spots for save of the year!
At the other end Chris "Steady Eddy" MacKinnon did his usual thing and shut the Chill down by only allowing 2 goals on 31 shots. Pretty tough to win a game when a goalie is that stingy.
The Sabres dominated this game but no one player stood out. The scoring and point totals were pretty eve for everyone.
This was just a game the Chill could not win.
Sabres take this one 9-2
Congrats to Bulldogs keeper Craig "the Gargoyle" Burgoyne, this weeks Eastside Mario's Player of the Week. Way to go Craig!
