Winding down toward the playoffs week 8 Recap

November 4, 2014
Well guess who is writing the day after...none other than Billy Concarney, fresh off his ultimatum to either stay on top of things or stay home!
This is your week 8 recap folks.
So let's get started.

Bulldogs vs Hackers

The Hackers were coming off of a two game slide. The Bulldogs were hoping to capitalize on their slump...but anyone who knows Dave "Super" Cooper, knows that he wasn't going to see this happen. This was a pretty clean game given the nature of these two teams and hard fought on both sides. Chris "The Fish" MacKinnon had a great game and made it a lot easier for his team to pick up the win. Speaking of Wynn, Tom scored a couple. Scott "I'm Hot" Cross scored a hat trick for the Bulldogs. There was one shift that he was so tenacious that he was making plays while on his rump!
This one was a it lopsided at the end with the Hackers finding their winning ways once again. they won 10-5

Lynx vs Titan

The Lynx have certainly come into their won as of late. The Titans, have been a bit short on their efforts, but have managed to hang in there in most if not all of their games. The game was a wash until the third...when Trevor" The Hurricane" McGuigan came storming in. In the third, McGuigan scored a "hatrick au naturel" and picked up a helper on the last goal to give his team a come from behind tie! Craig "the Gargoyle" Burgoyne, although not his best performance, made some great saves going down the stretch and this allowed his team to finish the come back.
The game ended in a 7-7 tie.

Fire Vs Chill

The Fire have been riding a super season so far with just one loss coming into this one. The Chill, were hoping to cool the tandem of Schellenberg and Urquhart down. That would be a tall order to say the least. The Fire were missing their keeper, Jason "Boom Boom" Boudreau and were relying on the play of league rookie Gary "The Canary" McAvoy.
The Chill took the lead early and went into the second with a three zip lead. To everyone's surprise...and I mean everyone...It wasn't the dynamic duo of Schelly and Urqy who were on Fire...it was Kevin "I'm Stinky" Shute and anyone who was on the floor with him that made the Chill pay for their mistakes. Shute had a hat trick...and no this is not a typo. It is for real. I mean it happened...I saw it wit me own eyes!
But whenever the Fire got close...the Chill would dose it by adding a goal of their own. This was a good game. back and forth, but the Chill came out on top by a score of 8-6

Sabres vs Slayers

So who is this Bobby Zwicker fellow? Well, he is a roomy who is making waves back stopping the Slayers to a decent record thus far. well tonight he would be called upon 44 times and he would answer all but twice. This is why
Bobby "The Cherry Picker" Zwicker has earned his second Eastside Mario's Player of the Week award. But it wasn't just the goal tending. His team's balanced attack made for a rough night for the Sabres.
The Slayers took this one by a score of 7-2

So there you have it folks. Dats all I got t' say bout dat!
After week 8...the Hackers are still the number one team in the league but the Fire and the Chill are hot on their heels.
Two weeks remaining and then it is time for the real dance to begin!
I'm Billy Concarney saying so long and remember that we have freedoms in this country that have come at a high price. With Remembrance day coming up, make sure you get your poppy and wear it in appreciation for all those who have served and continue to serve.
Be well folks!
