I'm Billy Concarney and you are reading the post season, per play off report.
First of all lets take a look at what happened this week.
Hackers 5 Slayers 4
This was a great game from start to finish. The two leading scorers faced off against one another and Dave Cooper led his team to the victory. Adam "I'm Gellin'" Schellenberg was in on all four of the Slayers goals as he once again showed that he was the best offensive player in the league this year.
Chill 5 Lynx 2
In a battle for second, the Chill put the freeze on the Lynx offence with the help of Heath "of the klondike" Matheson, who turned aside 50 of 52 shots. This was another "real score" game and a good one for the Chill heading into the play offs.
Bulldogs 12 Sabres 6
So Mike Degrace made an awesome 55 saves tonight. The down side of that is he had 67 shots. But this loss had nothing to do with his game. He was on fire as usual. His team was just out worked in this one and the Bulldogs were determined to end their season on a good note.
Titans 10 Fire 6
In a battle for third, the Fire came out hot scoring the first two goals. But the Titans just proved to be too much as they notched 10 to the Fire's 6. Both teams played a great game and it hard to say how they will end up in the play offs.
So after the 10 regular season games here is how things look.
The Hackers clinched first place a few weeks ago.
The Chill clinched 2nd last night with the victory over the Lynx
The Titans took 3rd by beating the Fire in the season closer
The Lynx finish in 4th
The Slayers close the season in 5th
The Fire take 6th
The Sabres finish 7th
The Bulldogs finish 8th
So, the Hackers carry their #1 seeding into the play offs.
They will face the Bulldogs and the odds makers are giving 75-1 odds to the Hackers to advance into the second round.
The Chill will play the Sabres in the first round which brings us to question...Blood or Glory, which one wins? Father vs Son in this one as the Pittman's do battle. This one could be close because Mike "Baby Face" Degrace has been playing pretty well this season and will definitely give his team a chance to win. Heath Matheson turned in one of his best games ever last week and if he carries that into the play offs, look out for the Chill. Odds makers giving the Chill the victory, but not an easy one!
The Fire face off against the Titans in their first round match ups. Issue here for both teams is goalies. The Fire have arguably the best offence in the league with it spread out over a few players. Pretty good depth there. If rookie keeper trevor Swain can keep the ball to of the net, they could go far. The Titans have some great players as well, but the wild card is Jason "boom boom" Boudreau. Will he show up and give his boys a chance to keep going. This one is a 50-50 game in our books.
The last game to look at is the Slayers vs the Lynx. The Slayers have been on fire as of late with Adam "I'm Gellin" Schellenberg leading the way followed closely by his long time friend Braden "My Hair" Urquhart.
Craig "the gargoyle" Burgoyne has been coming into his own this year and if he can handle the dips doodle twins, could just give his team a win.
So there you have it folks. Everything is all done and ready to go.
Play offs start next week and good luck to everyone!
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember, if your wife asks for something silver that goes from 0 to 175 in 2 seconds for Christmas...don't buy her a bathroom scale. Might not go over too well.
Be well folks!
