First of all, I want to apologize to Rob "The Rhino" Tyrrell for misreporting where he stands in the overall scheme of things. Turns out that he is still a ways off of the league total...but now stands one point behind Tony "The Pony" Joyce for the REGULAR Season all time scoring leader.
Rob picked up 5 points this past week in an ugly affair that say his team get thumped 20 - 11 by the Slayers.
It was the most goals scored on one team since Kane lost in the finals his rookie year 23-10...many remember that with a smile.
This week saw a total of 77 goals scored in 4 games. Not great for save percentages...which we will add seem to be the lowest we have seen in quite a while. Is it because the tending is weaker or the D is away on vacation.
Let's ask the goalies sometime and we will post the results.
So, we have a new leader at the top of the scoring race in rookie sensation Adam "The Sniper" Schellenberg. He lit it up this week with the help of longtime team mate and friend Brayden "My Hair" Urghuart.
Scores were like this:
Slayers beat the Fire 20-11
Schellenberg and Urqhuart combine for 24 points. Scary!
Hacker beat the Chill 7-3.
Steve Thorne picked up two goals.
Titans beat the Bulldogs 8-7
Jeff "My Arms Are Some Big" Shute scored a hat trick...but no assists...go figure
Lynx beat the Sabres 11-10
Another high scoring affair. Matt Clarke scored 6 goals and had two assists.
So, sorry for the short report.
On a rather sombre note, we have learned that one of our past longtime players and arguably one of the top D men to ever play in the league has been hit with cancer. He has a big fight ahead of him but if anyone can fight this it is Mark Thompson.
Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
The league also welcomes back one from the record books in Shawn "Hot and Spicy" Currie.
Shawn holds the record for one season point total with 144....I'm sure there is a story to that somewhere. The Sabres will be a tougher team with him back in their ranks.
So that's where we sit this week. I hope you all have had a great week and until next time...
I'm Billy Concarney saying so long and remember...it takes a big man to cry, but it takes an even bigger man to make fun of the guy who is crying!
Be well folks.
