Supplies! here I am!!
Hey ho boys and girls of all ages and welcome to a long time coming another edition of "This Guy Need a Pay Cut Because He's Not Doing His Freakin' Job" I'm Billy Concarney and enough of the shenanigans, here's week eight's game reports.
Well the league has been coasting along pretty smoothly. Seems that Marty "The Commish" hit home when he addressed all the players of the league about over exuberant play. This has sadly left Brendan Shanahan without a job as his services are no longer needed here. well let's get at er'!
Titans Over Power The Lynx
This game saw the league leading Titans pitted against the bottom dwelling Lynx. The game was pretty even right through. Tied two all at the end of the first with the Titans scoring the lone goal in the second. What happened next could only be described as right out of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Remember that scene where the little hobbits sat on the big trees and the "old men of the forest" decided to get involved and then trashed the place? Well, our own little man Jeff "My Arms Are Some Big" Shute must have taken a page out of Tolken's book when he whispered in Doug "The Pug" Forrest's ear, because what ever he said worked. Doug singlehandedly took the game into his own hands in the third setting up the first goal and then scoring 3 himself. It was kind of stoic to say the least. This just goes to show that there must have been some magic in that old wool hat he found! Titan took this one 7-2 Worth while to note that keith Bain scored the first goal just 6 seconds into the game...and it was a beauty! Way to go Keith!
The Hacker Juggernaut Strikes Again!
The HFHL juggernaut, The Hackers or commonly known by the following affectionate's as "Cooper's Troopers", continued to roll over their opponents by thrashing the Bulldogs by a score of 16 to 4. Bulldog goalie Tom "I'm Dying over here" Wynn stood in the net for 70 shots while some of his team mates took the night off...both at and away from the gym! Dave "Super" Cooper once again proved why he is the top scorer in the league by recording 8 goals and 3 assists. His team was heard cheering him on yelling "Pass the ball you hog!"
Chilly Day For The Fire
The Fire cam into this game pretty confident that they would go home with 2pts. In fact, who wouldn't have thought that based on paper. The Chill were missing their keeper Blair "Rockin' Chair" Hammond who is nursing a knee injury, so they called upon the services of Marty "The Party" Kane. The Chill came out with great zeal as they scored two goals in the first to take the lead. The Fire answered back with two in the second and they sat all tied at 2 after 2. The Fire opened the third with a quick goal. the Chill fought back and evened it up. The Fire scored one, then another. the game looked all but lost. The undermanned Chill looked defeated...but wait. Not so fast says Donnie Bailey. here's another brother says neil Cameron. Right back jack says Donnie bailey...and just like that the Chill have the lead. Hold on, hold on...must hold on...Tweet, final whistle goes and the Chill has dosed the Fire. When it was all said and done, Kane faced 81 shots giving up 5 and the Chill notched 6 giving them the win. What a game...if you were on the Chill anyway!
Slayers and Sabres a battle of the swords!
These two teams, the Sabres and the Slayers, are pretty much dead even on paper. What the Slayers have in power, the Sabres match in speed...ok except for Rob Pittman because he is getting kind of old and all.
The real difference came down to goaltending. After two the Slayers led by one but were out shot 23 to 17. The third saw league veteran, I guess we can call him that Chrissy "The Sissy" MacKinnon ( yes you do detect a little bit of jealousy there) step his game up and completely shut down the Sabres...even as they fired 18 shots at him. The Slayers notched two more in the third. MacKinnon's play gave his team the win this night. The Slayers beat the Sabres 7-4.
So that's how it looked from this end of the rink. A reminder to the captains that with two games left, every point counts. With the new play off format, the number one seed left at the end of each round will play the lowest seed left. So although every team makes the playoffs, the season standings actually mean something.
Anyhow, that's all for this week.
I'm Billy Concarny saying so long and remember...once upon a time some one you never met gave their life for you. Always be thankful!
Be well folks! And don't forget to check out this week's player story featuring Chris MacKinnon...
