Whoa Nilly Here comes Billy! Week 4 Recap

October 19, 2012

Hey ho gents and welcome to another edition of The HFHL Morning After, which is in fact being written several mornings after but hey, kept you on the edge of your seats right?!

I'm Billy Concarney and this is a recap of what happened this past week.

Titans and Hackers??? Who's the better team? Is that even a fair question to ask. Both of these teams came into the night undefeated and this was another play of style game. The score stayed even at 1 a piece after one, two each after 2 and then all heck broke loose. Ok, well maybe not all heck but some stuff happened. League veteran defenceman Doug "the Pug" Forrest took acception to a call and wnet a wee bit overboard which sent him tino the dressing room early. This didn't seem to affect the Titans as they cam out firing in the third picking up three quick goals that took the game in control. Dave "Super" Cooper tried to get his team back in the game but it was just a bit too late. The Titans took this one 5-3.

I Came To a Fight and a Hockey Game Broke Out! So this was a rather unfortunate start to a game that the Chill would like to forget. There were some blows exchanged...ok let's say pillows full of kittens thrown and the end result was a couple of guys getting a suspension as a result. Tempers cooled quickly and hand shakes were made along with lots of "I'm Sorries do you still love me's" and everything was ok...accept the score. By the end of this one the Chill took a beating as they lost this one 9-3 to the Slayer.

Bulldogs outlast the Lynx. Not much to sday here. The Bulldogs undermaned but not overwhelmed relied on Tom Wynn's acceptional play to get this hard faught win. The won the second period big time and that is what cost the Lynx the game...ok and they had that fat old goalie Kane playing and that didn't help. The Bulldogs won this game 7-6

Last game to report was the Fire and the Sabres. This was the Rob "The Rhino" Tyrrell show as he plowed his way into a tie for first in the league's scoring race. Rob had 5 goals as the Fire beat the Sabres 9-5. This was a clean game and both goalies came up with some big saves.

Ok, so here is a news item that was missed a while back. One of the league's top keepers, Tom Wynn, had a spectacular game back on week two. After taking and 11 goal romp the week before, Tom stepped it up and had a HUGE shut out facing 41 shots...many from the league's deadliest "Sexy Chewy" Scott Cross. Since I have been on a bit of a leave, I needed to make sure that this guy got props. A shut out in this league is a rare thing and well earned regardless of the shot count, but 41 is a big deal. Way to go Tom!

Last thing is a note from the league. We are 4 games in and things are going pretty good. We did have a couple of incidents that have sounded a sour note through out the league ranks. There was a rare "throwing of hands" last week along with a game toss for a ref abuse situation. Both of these were not a severe as they could have been but both are not something that we want to see happen at all. refs are volunteers and to that point desrve more respect than a paid guy. If you chirp, expect a warning. If you get their face...expect penalty. If you can't figuire it out after that? You will be tossed. get tossed from two games...sit another. That simple.

The league will be looking at zero tolerance going forward. We have a great league with some great players but everyone HAS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ACTIONS ALL THE TIME!

That's all from thsi end thsi week but we will be at it again soon. Stay well people and have a great week!

I'm Billy Concarney saying so long and remember, agression might put you in first place...but compassion will make the world a better place.
