So let's get to it.
Slayers Dominate Sabres
Slayers 8 Sabres 5
This was a pretty lack luster game to say the least. The Slayers jumped out to a 7-1 lead after two while the Sabres just managed 6 shots in the second. the Sabres picked it up while the Slayers back end took a wee bit of a nap to make this game closer than it actually was. Really was no contest. Barry Coolen's team looks like a strong contender coming out the gates.
Titans 1st round Pick Shines...
Titans 14 Lynx 14
So this game started off looking like Jeff Shute made the right call after all.!st pick Matt Clarke had a natural hat trick to start the game and the Titans were on route to a huge win...but then reality set in.
After the 1st, the Titans held a whopping 7 -3 lead but it is worth while to note that the Lynx goalie was a no show, for reasons not yet known to the league, but we are all hoping he is ok. Greg Sullivan dawned the gear and bravely stepped up to fill the gap, in nets that is. It wasn't his most memorable but he might just remember it for a long time. Anyhow, the Titans the started the 2nd with three more and at that point the crowd was yelling for the medics to stop the bleeding. that seemed to be the rally cry as the Lynx started to pour it on and as the second ended, the score was 10 -8. they were not done. In a matter of the first 3 minutes of the third, the Lynx actually took the lead. back and forth, too and fro, the game changed sides like the NDP once the election was over. this one ended up a tie...14 -14 on 25 and 23 shots. Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.
Shuter...hate to say it, but might be a long year buddy!
New look Hackers Take Down The Dogs
Hackers 12 Bulldogs 4
So this was another no contest. Both teams were without their regular goalies so the two guys manning the net had already played a game. this meant that the best team would have to win without the help of their keepers. the Hackers rose to the occasion in this one, led by veteran Donnie Bailey. The short staffed Bulldogs just could not keep it going and some guys were complaining about fellas just standing around in front of the net instead of digging down deep and running back to help. This clearly was an issue and it will be interesting to see how the season fairs for the Dogs. they have a great team on paper, but paper doesn't play the game does it...we'll see.
Chill Put The Freeze On The Fire
Chill 7 Fire 3
In what some might call a bit of an upset, the Chill put the damper on the Fire as the beat the dwindling flames 7 to 3 this past Monday.
the story of this game was Tom "The Win" Wynn, who faced 40 shots and turned aside all but 3 to give his team the win. Team GM and Player slash Coach Adam "Don't Have A" Cowie, led his teams with 5 points. Not mcuh to say about this game either, it is what it is and the Fire will have to "cut some kindling" before their next game.
So that's how it looks from here. The league would like to take this opportunity to welcome the "Old Guy" Blair, "Rockin' Chair" Hammond back as he jumps in the net for the goalie less Lynx. Let's everyone welcome him back. this will change the dynamics of the league and certainly bring the Lynx in a higher level.
Sorry for the delay in getting this past weeks headline out there, but sometimes it happens.
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember, the trade deadline is the 7th game of the season, not tomorrow!
be well folks!
