Fire 11 Hackers 4
Well the Fire was bruning bright this week as they trashed the Hackers big time in this game. Rob "T Wrecks" Tyrrell had a banner night scoring 5 goals and adding 3 helpers to ensure that the night he scored his 600th goal was a memorable one. he had some great support from his team mates, including "no name brand" defenseman Johann "Tierra" Tienhaara who played one of his best games ever.
At the other end, we had a great game by Sheldon "Iron man" O'Brien who played the only bright spot in this one. Blair "Rockin' Chair" Hammond filled in for an always absent Jason "The Flash" Boudreau and was quickly reminded that sometimes two games aren't better than one as he allowed 11 goals on 57 shots, but still managed to make a few great saves in the loss.
We asked Fire Captain what his thoughts were on this historic night. "Well, I run pretty good and I can shoot pretty good. I really guess that makes me pretty good then doesn't it! Yea, I'm very good actually. Just ask me, how good am I? Well I'm really really good...600 plus goals...I am awesome. Kind of like a T-Rex. You know, that dinosaur that roamed the earth years ago...but i roam the gym. Ruining undefeated seasons, thus the nick name T-Wrecks...cause I wreck things"
yes you do Rob...like this here interview!
Titans 7 Sabres 6
The Titans again had to dig down into the pool of players available to them and this time came out a winner because of it. Short staffed and looking winded, the Mighty Titans battled hard and carried a three goal lead coming into the third period. After a short exchange of pleasantries at the Sabres bench, they came out on fire and scored three goals to tie the game at 6-6, but with 30 seconds left to go, the Sabres left a man unattended in the front and he banged home the winner. Who was that man you say? Well none other than Darren "I don't know" Howie put it in the net, but he did! The Sabres were obviously missing Devin "Pepsi" Maxwell and Tyler "Re" Morse. This was a big game of what many feel could be the two best teams in this league when they have their full team left.
team captain Jeff "My Arms Are Some Big" Shute was a no show tonight. Speculation is that his pigeon coup was taking on heavy water and he said he would never miss a chance to make a good batch of soup, or in his words "I can kill three birds with one storm".
Slayers 7 Lynx 4
So the Slayers were desperate for a win as they headed into this game. The Lynx came into it riding a two game winning streak but that didn't seem to phase the Slayers who were all about making a statement. This game saw a couple of whiley veterans step it up and both contributed for their teams. Neil "The Deal" Cameron took a swig from the fountain of youth and pulled out a natural hat trick for the Lynx, while Gill "The Magnificent" Mombo picked up 4 goals to lead the Slayers to the win. The shot count in this game was the lowest one we had seen this year, but both goalies gave their teams a chance to win. Not much interesting went on in this game, but I think this may have been the first win of the year for the Slayers.
Chill 8 Bulldogs 6
So this was a respectable game. Shots were close with a 42 to 38 count in favor of the Chill. Once again Mike Cogdon proved to be the difference as he 3 goals and added 2 assists. Jeff "I'm Going To" Townley had a great game as well with 2 goals and 3 assists. It got a bit chippy at one point as Pittman and Doyle both picked up roughing penalties. There was not much to report so i will make something good up.
We did an exclusive interview with Mike "The Tall Guy With A Scruffy Beard" Cogdon after the game. This is what transpired.
Concarney "Hi Mike, can i ask you something?"
Cogdon "Sure"
Concarney "What color socks do you wear when you play?"
Cogdon "Ah, I think they are white, yea they are."
Concarney" Well those ones look sort of yellow?"
Cogdon "Dam dog!"
Concarney "Where? (looks around feverishly)"
Cogdon "Where what?"
Concarney "Where's the dog?"
Cogdon "what dog?"
Concarney "You said there was a dog?"
Cogdon "Huh?"
Concarney "What?"
Cogdon "I have one for you..."
Concarney "OK, what?"
Cogdon "What's my name?"
Concarney "Mike Cogdon"
Cogdon "How do you spell it?"
Concarney " M-I-K-E C-O-G-D-O-N"
Cogdon " Nope...I-T"
Concarney "That's stupid"
Cogdon "No you are...look at all the time you just spent making up this crappy interview"
So there you have it folks. Mike Cogdon's name is spelled I-T..I never would have figured.
Oh well.
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember...
Be well folks!
