I'm Billy Concarney and you are some one else!
So enough of this pre amble ramble....let's get to the games shall we.
Titans 10 Chill 7
This was the first meeting since the Chill won it all last year by beating Titans 100 and something to 1, or close to that anyway. Titans captain Jeff "My Arms Are Some Big" Shute was going to turn up the heat. And heat it up he did, man oh man alive what a show he put on scoring 7 of the 10 goals and adding one assist. Heck, he would have tied the Chill if he was the only one who scored...but unfortunately for the Cowie Clan, Roger "The Self Proclaimed Ninja" Keating scored three more. Chris "The Fish" McKinnon continued to show why he is a top candidate for rookie of the year, well if we had an award like that, by making some big time game saver saves to keep the short manned titans in the mix.
The Chill were led by Jeff "I'm Going To" Townely and Mike "The Tall Guy With a scruffy Beard" Cogdon. Adam "Don't Have a" Cowie picked two goals up as well. This game was not as close at it looks as the Titans just "let" the Chill get close because they were way too tired.
Sabres 12 Hackers 3
Well this one was a great game until the start of the second. After the first it was 1 nil for the Sabres and the shots on goal were 15 to 14 again for the Sabres. you couldn't get much closer than that! But the second saw the Sabres score 5 more while the Hackers could only get 2. The third period wasn't any better as the Sabres just kept coming and they scored 6 more. Jason "The Flash" Boudreau didn't know what hit him...but lots did as he played a great game. The Sabres were just too fast and seemed to be everywhere. Rookie sensations Devin "Pepsi" Maxwell and Dave "Mini" Cooper each had 6 points to lead the Sabres. Not much more to it than this.
Fire 5 Lynx 4
Well finally a game that had a hockey score! This was a great game that went right to the wire. Tom "I need Some Help to Get the" Wynn played another phenomenal game and gave his team every opportunity to Wynn, so to speak, but the Fire were just that much better tonight. The Fire have a great line up with some big names in Tyrrell, Clarke and Milligan, but this night belonged to journeyman Rob "I Can't" Tighe. He Fired the winner past an unsuspecting Tom Wynn to pick the top corner and win the game late in the 3rd.
We asked Tighe his thoughts. "You see, no one expects it from a guy like me right. But I have this high wrist snapper slapper shot that i have been working on. It looks like this (sound of stick going through the air) Ouch!!!" "Oh sorry Billy, I didn't mean to catch with the stick, but just imagine if I ever hit you with the ball...I might put your eyes out or something"
This was a close and well fought game.
Bulldogs 13 Slayers 12
So this was a close one, but a long one. Gary Bettman would have been proud as both of these teams filled the net. The Slayers scored the last 2 goals to secure the win. This one was a bit of a rough affair as well as the refs handed out a pair of misconducts to keep the rowdies in check.
But this night belonged to none other than Toooooonnnnnnyyyyyy JJJJOOOOOYYYYCCCCCEEEE. Slap my knees and hit the floor this cool cat sure can score! And score he did, 698, 699, 700 and 701! Wow wee and golly gee! That is 701 goals for his career. This is no small feat with the caliber of goaltending we have seen in recent years so hats off to ya Antony Joyce! You Da man!
So that's all I'm putting down here this week. but I'll be back and maybe then I'll have some new material or something.
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and think about this for a moment. Light travels faster than sound...so is that why some people seam bright until you hear them speak???
Be well folks!
