Halifax Floor Hockey LeagueHey folks.
It's Billy Concarney here with a follow up on the 2011 "A" seaon draft results.
The League top brass and team captains/GMs gathered at the legendary Lion's Head Tavern tonight to decide who would be playing where this season. The draft went pretty smooth all things considered and here are the picks for the first round. It was dominated by goalies first and foremost and then a few big uns at the end.
1. Martin "Candy" Kane
2. Tom "I'll get you the" Wynn
3. Chris "New Guy" McKinnon (we'll get a new nickname as time goes on)
4. Blair "Rockin' Chair" Hammond
5. Jason "Boom, Boom" Boudreau
6. Mike "The Tall Guy With A Scruffy Beard" Cogdon
7. Matt "The Hat" Clarke
8. Gill "The Magnificent" Mombourquette
After that it was anyone's game and there were definite strategies in play. Some guys went heavy on "D" while others tried to put together a balanced attack with their picks. Regardless of what direction you went, it was pretty hard not to put together a good team with this season's talent pool. It will be interesting to see how the season pans out and I'll be bringing it to you all the way.
The season starts next Monday at 8:30PM. The teams are up to date and you just need to check the schedule and see when you play. You should get an email from your captain in the next day or so welcoming you to the respective organizations.
So there you have, the teams are picked, the dates are set and now it's up to you! Here's to a great season ahead and let's have some fun out there.
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember, if you play in this league, you are fair game to have a few jabs taken at you here on the website, but it's all fun. The nick names are not meant to poke fun at or hurt y'all, but they are meant to make you laugh or at least smile...right Shaun?!
Be well and good night!
