Chill 6 Titans 6 In another rather low scoring afair, the Chill and the Titans fought to a 6 all tie. The Chill were led by captain Adam Cowie with 2 goals and an assist and the Titans were led by work horse, John Couch, who had 3 goals and a helper. Matt Warnell jumped in between the pipes to help the Titans earn a tie as he faced 27 shots in the first period alone.
Hackers 12 Sabres 12 There was no lack of offence here as the goalies on both teams were sun burnt after this one. Are you sitting down?? Well you should be. 20 seconds left in the game. Sabres down by one. They call a time out. 5 seconds later, Craig Bielder fires one past Mike Hunter to tie the game. Talk abot last minute heorics. I asked Hunter his thoughts on the games ending. Thisn is what he said. "%$#!@ you Concarney! Didn't you see me kissing the cup you stupid &%**#$! Yea, easy for you to sit in that plushy hotel and write %$#$%$@@! stories. I'd like to see you play a %^$#$$%% game you fat $%#*&^)(*^%%$$!" Me thinks he wasn't happy with the question...
Slayers 11 Bulldogs 5 The Slayers are keeping up their winning ways as they pounded the Bulldogs all the way to the SPCA! Dogs captain Gill Mombo was a noteable absentee for this one and his team missed him on the floor. Mike Megeney had a hat trick in the losing cause. On the winning side of things Slayers front man and league leading scorer Mike Cogdon had another 9 point performance while Peter "The Heater" Eddy had 5 goalds and one helper. After the game Mike Cogdon was heard telling Peter Eddy he should pass more, to which Peter replied "You're joking right?"
Fire 10 Lynx 7 Fire captain Rob Tyrrell woke up this morning to the sound of music and he carried it with him all day long. Singing "A hunting we will go, a hunting we will go, hi ho I'm Mario, a hunting we will go" He brought his "A" game tonight and scored 4 goals and added 4 helpers to skin the Lynx. Meanwhile Matt Monk had 2 goals and 2 assists for the Lynx. Both teams are 1 and 1 after the first two weeks.
This week was another rather quiet week in the "Sin Bin". There were some questions as to what the rules are when it comes to closing your hand on the ball. I want to take a moment to let you Americans in our midst know how this game works. First of all, we don't use a computer chip to create a blury trail behind the ball so you can follow it better. Actually, some brainy Commish decided that he would help out by drawing pretty pictures on the game balls to help aid us all identify this ever precious whiffle ball. Unlike most leagues, in the HFHL, you are allowed to catch the ball in your hands. That being said, you must immediately place the ball on the floor in the proximity of your stick or feet. You may not pull any Lebron James moves, Walter Payton side steps, Savardian spin-a-rama's or So You Think You Can Dance jumping leg split thingys. If you do not drop the ball immediately and at your feet, you will be penalised some how. It might be as little as giving the other team the ball or as severe as a penalty for something we haven't quite figured out yet, but most likely a delay of game penalty. So, rmemeber folks, and no Dave I'm not talking to you, drop the ball as soon as you catch it. that's the rule!
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember, the HFHL is probably the only place in the wrold where it is ok to "drop the ball". Be well and see ya next week!
