This is Billy Concarney with a quick end of week summary of what went on this past week at the HFHL.
First game of the night was a fierce goaltending battle between Highmore's Slayers and Kane's Chill.
The first period saw each team trade goals but the boys in the net kept thing shut only giving up one a piece. Tie game 1-1 after the first
The second saw the Slayers pour it on ad after taking 23 shots, they were rewarded twice while the Chill managed only one more in the second. 3-2 for the Slayers.
The third was Highmore's as he made a few pretty spectacular saves to keep his boys in front. Rob the Rhyno Tyrrell added some insurance and after this one was all over, the Slayers took the victory 4-2.
Highmore earned this week's HFHL Player of The Week honours as a result of his performance. Great game Paul!
Second game of the night saw the Fire pull up against the undefeated Hackers. the first period was dead even. both teams had 9 shots and both teams had one goal.
The second saw the Hackers start to take control as they scored the only three goals of the period and as such, took a 4-1 lead into the last period.
the third period saw the Hackers add 3 more to their total while the Fire could only pull one out of the hat.
After the horn sounded, the Hackers remained atop of the league with a 7-3 win over the Fire.
last up we had the Lynx visiting the Sabres. The Lynx had a full bench for the first time since 1973 and the Sabres had everyone except the real Aaron Brown!
The first goal of the night went to the Lynx when Sampson scored on a pass from Gale. But the Sabres came back quickly and scored the next three goals. The Lynx answered back to keep it close and after the first the Lynx trailed by a score of 3-2
The second saw the Lynx pressure and it served them well. After the Sabres took a 4-2 lead, the Lynx ripped two more goals and this one was all tied after two at 4-4
The third was the deal breaker. The Lynx were hangry for a win and the Sabres weren't sharp enough to fend these cats off.
The Lynx opened the period with a quick goal followed by one for the Sharpees. But these cats, they just kept prowling around the net and they scored 4 goals to close the game out. This gave them their first win of the season and a 9-5 victory.
So thats what it looked like from here.
Remember Captains, ball drop of week 7 is the deadline for any trades.
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and thanks for checking in!
