Halifax Floor Hockey LeagueMy name is Billy "The" Concarney and this is your week 8 recap.
First up is Fire vs Lynx.
up to this point, the Lynx were tied for second and actually in 3rd with two weeks left to go. The Fire sat in 4th without too much trouble.
This game saw the Lynx come out of the gate with the first three goals before the Fire grabbed their first on power play, but Gale scored to end the period giving the Lynx a commanding 4-1 lead after one.
The second was much of the same as they again grabbed four goals to the Fire's one and took an 8-2 lead into the third.
The third saw the Fire come out just a blazing as they scored the first two goals to get with in 4...but...that was quickly snuffed out when Griffin-Allwood poked a goal past Bob "Ho Hum" Strum to make sure that nothing goofy went on and after the teams traded a goal this one was in the books as a bg fat win by he big fat Lynx...yea...I just said that!
Lynx take this one 11-5.
Game two saw the game of the week showdown between the Slayers and the Hackers. Hacks were in first place by two pts, bt the Slayers were looking to even that with a defeat of the first place team.
This one started out quick as the Slayers drew first blood on their first shot of the game to take a one goal lead. But that lasted about 30 seconds as Anil "I'm Skilled" Snook scored his first of three off a pass from Sampson and all was even.
But the Slayers, short manned and all, had a bounce in their step and they rattled off 3 quick goals to take a 4-1 lead into the second.
The second was all Sayers, recording three goals from three different players, proving their depth and desire to get even with the Hackers. &-1 after the second and his one was all but over...
But anyone who knows Copper, knows that there is no such thing as a safe lead. the Hackers came out in the third and whipped 5 unanswered goals past Strum, who had played a super game with some great saves. Meanwhile at the other end Paul Highmore made a couple of big saves himself just to keep things close.
The young and reigning scoring champ, Matt "give that ol' guitar a" Strum isn't about to give this one away and he hustled and muscled two goals to take a solid two goal lead. This one was over right?
Well someone forgot to tell Anil "Read the Book" Snook and he tagged not one, but two to end the night and with a 5 point performance ted this one up and made sure that the Hackers would take a three point lead into the final night of the regular season, making it impossible for anyone to catch them now.
This one ended up in an 8-8 tie.
The final game saw the undermanned Chill facing off against the last place Sabres.
The inssaw the sabres draw first blood scoring the first goal quickly, but the Chill answered back when Adam "I Love The Windmill Rule" Healy scored to tie it up.
the second saw the Sabres grab two more while the Chill recorded one and this one was 3-2 for the Sabres after the second.
The third saw the Sabres again start the scoring taking a two goal lead but the Chill were quick to answer with two of their own. It was tied 4 all, until the Sabres went on a tear and scored 4 in a row. could this be their first win? I don't know because I can't see the standings and if I go to them now this news article will vanish and I can't be bothered typing another one ugh...so let's say its their first win...well if they win.
The Chill scored...but just one...so yea, the Sabres won! Wait what?
So there you have it. I have to go take my kid someplace now, but I will come back and do the play-off synopsis when I get back..,
