And Then there were three! Week 3 recap

September 26, 2018
So I have absolutely no idea why I used that headline.
This is Billy Concarney and this is your weekly copy of the HFHL news.
Let's take a peek at what went down...

First up were the Sabres and the Slayers.
This one saw the lowly Sabres once again down Roger "the lame ninja" Keating and Mike DeAdder along with their regular keeper Craig The gargoyle Burgoyne. Thanks to Adam Larder who jumped in between the pipes in his place.
well the game tarted and it wasn't that bad in the first. Larder faced 18 shots before the Sabres had one and hat was in the first 5 minutes! These Slayers are fast and furious and I think their total age on the team is 68..30 of those belong to JD!
So Matt Strum started the scoring...and scored and scored and what do you know...A Natural Hat Trick! Haven't seen one of those since last week! But Mikey Gelinas ripped a shot under the cross bar to give his team some life...until JD snuffed it out with an unassisted goal. So after one its 4-2 for the Slayers.
The second period saw the Slayers add four more goals to their total while the Sabres doubled their total too! 8-2 after two...
Soooo...it was nice to see the Slayers let up a bit in he third as this time they only scored 3! And Bob "HoHum" Strum actually had to make two saves in this period! They were nice once two...I mean too! ;-)
Thats all she wrote. Slayers go three and OH while the Sabres are Oh and three. Slayers win 11-3
Oh...and Bob spilled water on the floor and claimed it was sweat! Sneaky guy   (don't ya just love me?!)

Next up we have the Lynx at the Hackers. The Hacks have been finding their stride as they are still undefeated with a win and a tie. The Lynx have been on a tear with two wins to start the season. This was a tough one as Lynx goalie Adam Larder was still huffing and puffing from the first 61 shots he faced in the game before. But he was still standing tall.
The game started with the Havers robbing the first gal when Bourdages poked one in off a pass from Chris "the Hipster" Sampson. But Alex Gale quickly tied it up the he beat Highmore with a shot. The teams traded goals and the Hackers finished the scoring in the first and took a 3-2 game into he dressing room...er the benches...you know what I mean.
The second started...and so did the Hackers! Whoa nelly they scored 5 goals to start the period and it wasn't until Gale grabbed his second of the night that the bleeding started to slow down. 7-2 Hackers after the second.
The Third saw the hackers continue to press on as they again scored first...and second and third and yes...fourth. The Lynx mounted a mini comeback scoring the last 3 goals of the period but too little too late. The Hackers dominate...again...12-6

The Third game saw the Chill searching for their first win of the season, facing off against the Fire who were doing the same. The only difference was that the Fire at least had a tie. The Fire also welcomed back their goalie Jason Boudreau. This could be a great game.
The ball dropped and the Chill came a calling scoring the first and only 3 goals of the period carrying the momentum into the second.
The Chill grabbed the first goal of the second too and then the Fire got ht and score two quick goals. But the Chill added two more before Eric Gale ripped one off the cross bar, between the two blues and he made it... but we were only joking about the $1,000,000 (Trivia- this came from what? Come see me next Monday with the answer)
After the second, the Chill had a 6-3 lead.
The Fire came out just a blazing and scored three unanswered goals before the Chill woke up and grabbed the next three. Each team traded a goal and then it was all over. The Chill had their first win of the season and the Curse of Cross was abolished once and for all!
Chill take this one 10-6

So thats all she wrote folks! We have a close race all the way around and the Slayers and the Hackers are poised for an epic battle coming our way sometime soon!
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and have a great week peeps!

Be well folks!
