Important Notice

June 2, 2018
Good day one and all.
As many of you may or may not know, the league received some unfortunate news recently regarding the CFB Stadacona Gym.
The gym is slated to close this October when it will be torn down in anticipation of another facility being constructed sometime down the road. I have asked if they may have some other facility we could use for the time being but was told that Shearwater is full and The Dockyard Gym is not available for rent due to security restrictions.
So I am currently in search of a new facility but it has presented its challenges. With several groups being displaced there is competition for time elsewhere. Also, the School Board will not allow new groups into facilities to play ball hockey as is the case with seve al other private gyms due to stick damage to the floors.
Saying this, I have had some promising conversations with one facility recently and we are at the top of their list but have to wait for a couple of weeks to see how their fall/winter programming unfolds.
We may have to change the league format if we cannot find a facility that allows us to play two games at once. Some options would be to go to 6 teams in a larger gym with ten players aside plus a goalie. This would allow for 5vs5 play. It does mean that we would lose opportunity for two of our goalies to play as well as four regular players.
The last option is to play two hours of pick up until star builds the new facility but that could be years down the road.
We should have an update before months end as to what will take place.
So going forward, here is what you can do. If you know someone who knows someone at a gym that you think might be able to fit, let me know martyk@eastlink.ca
If you are a person who prays, pray your little or big heart out. If you don' t cross your fingers, legs or whatever in hopes that something comes open for us.
The league has 38 successful seasons under its belt and we would hate to see it get shelved.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and check in from time to time as we will update as things develops.
In the meantime be well folks

Thanks
