Sabres Get Off Schneid Against Lynx

March 13, 2005
The Lite-Sabres notched their first win of the season on Thursday night with a come-from-behind victory over the previously unbeaten ADC Lynx. Things started well for the Lynx, as they closed the first period with three straight goals to open up a 5-3 lead, firing 28 shots on goal in the process.

The Lynx proceeded to score the first two goals of the second period to increase the margin to four. But the Sabres began to control the game midway through the second frame, scoring five of the final six goals of the period to tie the game at 8.

The Sabres rode that momentum in the third period, outscoring the Lynx 7-3, making the final 15-10. Chad Griffin led Sabres goal scorers with four tallies, while Spiro Bokolas and Mark Flinn each added hat-tricks. Jeff Hatt and Tony Warnell had three goals apiece for the Lynx in a losing cause.

The win was the Sabres first of the season, who move into a tie for forth place with the Sunnydale Slayers at 1-2. The Lynx’ first loss of the season drops them into a tie for second place with the LAN Hackers.
