Griffin’s high-scoring night confirmed to many that he is back where he is most comfortable, in a Lite-Sabre uniform. The elder of the FHL’s Prince Edward Island brother tandem spent his first five seasons in Sabre blue, before leaving for the Fire after being exposed in the 2003A draft. But after a disappointing 22-point season in 2003B, Griffin let it be known through his agent that he would welcome a return to Chris McMaster’s team, where he had won 3 championships. The 7 goals Monday give him 14 on the season, nearly double last season’s output of 8 markers.
The Sabres moved out of their first place tie with the Lynx and now sport a 3-0-1 record on the season. The Lynx will attempt to reclaim a share of the top spot when they host the LAN Hackers Thursday.
