Rinco's Threads Unravel Fire

October 29, 1999
The LAN Hackers and the Lite-Sabres brought their big guns out Thursday night in a display of league dominance. The Lite-Sabres prevailed 17-10 over the Keane Fire, while the LAN Hackers also racked up a 17-spot in a 17-9 victory over the Sunnydale Slayers.

The Lite-Sabres faced the Keane Fire in the first match-up of the evening. For the first time ever, both teams had full complements of players (nine per side). It was clear from the get-go that this game was going to be a wide-open affair. The game was marked by several breakaways, numerous highlight-reel saves and a mystifying shirt. Lite-Sabres forward Peter Rinco brought his secret weapon to the Lite-Sabres first road game: a shirt with bewildering blue patterns. Lite-Sabre teammates of Rinco's were told before the game to avoid looking directly at the shirt, but members of the Keane Fire weren't so fortunate. Repeatedly, Keane Fire defensemen would turn away from Rinco's shirt, leaving Rinco in the clear. As a result, Rinco led all scorers in the game with 4 goals and 3 assists. Several Keane Fire players were reportedly treated for migraines after the game.
