Fire, Hackers Renew Rivalry

Of all the rivalries that have evolved during the short existance of the ADCFHL, the one that is most heated may be that between the LAN Hackers and the Keane Fire. These two teams met in the ADCFHL's inaugural game last season with a result that was a good indicator of things to come in the 1999A season. The Hackers dominated that game 22-8 and there has been bad blood between the teams ever since.

The Fire and the Hackers met again in the regular season, with the Hackers being undefeated and the Fire being winless at the time. After one period, the Hackers seemed well on their way to another trouncing when the Fire pride kicked in. Although the Fire's comeback came up short in a 13-11 losing effort, they were the first team to make the Hackers look beatable.

First place played last place in the first round of the 1999A playoffs which meant that the Fire and the Hackers met again. This game somehow managed to be even closer than the last. With the Fire winning the game by two goals late in the game, the opportunistic Hackers sniped three quick ones to advanced to the finals and send the Fire home in a heartbreaking fashion.

This brings us to tonight's matchup between the two teams -- their first meeting of the 1999B season. Again the Hackers are undefeated and the Fire is winless. But will the Fire continue to play the Hackers tough? Or will the Hackers dominate like they did in their first ever meeting?
